The publishers of high school textbooks announced recently that they would eliminate references to evolution in their books. A group dubbed the Society for Textbook Revise (STR) is an independent organization that is an offshoot of the Korea Association for Creation Research which is the driving force behind the campaign. STR has won its first victory in taking away examples of the evolution of the horse and an avian ancestor, the Archeopteryx in textbooks. Its next target is to take out excerpts from Darwin’s infamous finch-research as well as on human evolution.
STR claims that it has the support of 4000 families and individuals. Its aim is to root out what it believes is the "atheist materialism" that paints an unhopeful worldview for students. On August 6-7, 1993, coinciding with the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six lecturers from abroad including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin addressed thousands of people. KACR members and KACR have also presented lectures on the subject of creation science at major seminaries. KACR plans to establish a Creation Science Education Center in the future.
